What is Heart Disease?
Coronary heart diseases, as the name suggests, target the heart
along with the blood vessel system. This can include heart attacks and
angina (chest pain).
A heart attack happens when a coronary artery becomes blocked, preventing
oxygen and nutrients from getting to the heart muscle.
According to the American Stroke Association, a stroke happens when
a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either
blocked by a clot or bursts. Because of lack of blood to the brain, it
does not get the oxygen it needs.
